Advertiser Staff

Pacific Island delegates at the Pacific Educational Conference, ongoing at McKinley High School, will tour Kula Kaiapuni O Anuenue from 8:30 to 11 a.m. this morning.

The visit will allow delegates from Micronesia, Samoa and Hawaii to see a language immersion school and students in action. The conference theme is "Language Acquisition: Knowledge that Empowers."

Kula Kaiapuni O Anuenue was founded in 1995 as a regular Department of Education public school. The school serves more than 360 students in grades K through 12.

The conference concludes today with a keynote address by Hokulea navigator Nainoa Thompson at 12:30 p.m. in the McKinley auditorium, followed by cultural presentations until 3 p.m. by delegates from the Northern Mariana Islands, Yap, Pohnpei, Marshall Islands and Hawaii.
