Soccer: Galaxy gets new threads for Beckham's debut

Advertiser Staff

CARSON, Calif. — The Los Angeles Galaxy are getting new threads for David Beckham's debut.

When the international soccer star, already a fashion plate, dons his Galaxy garb for the first time, he'll be fitted in new team colors.

The Galaxy are switching from their familiar green and gold uniforms, retaining the gold but making navy and white the new primary colors. Beckham and his teammates will wear the new outfits when he makes his debut in an exhibition game against Chelsea FC on July 21 in Carson.

A new logo will be featured on the uniforms, a "quasar" crest woven on the jerseys, which also prominently display the name of a corporate sponsor.

The logo change will be the first in the 12-year history of the Major League Soccer team.
