A golf tournament to raise money for a Don Ho memorial in Waikiki is scheduled for Aug. 13, the birthday of the late entertainer, Mayor Mufi Hannemann announced today.

Members of Honolulu 100, the nonprofit group that oversaw the city's centennial celebration last year, will organize the fundraising effort.

Hannemann said he invisions a statue of Ho, seated at his electric organ, and a plaque in a newly created Don Ho Park at Kalakaua and Beachwalk.

Ho died April 14 of heart-related problems at age 76.

The golf tournament will be a three-person scramble at the Prince Golf Club. Entry fee is $150 per player and $450 per team. The fee includes lunch and dinner.
