Kewalo Basin boat fire extinguished
Advertiser Staff
A boat fire this morning at Kewalo Basin was quickly extinguished after the crew's attempts were augmented by Honolulu firefighters.Reports of a fire in the engine compartment of a fishing vessel came in about 9:45 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the crew had put out most of the fire using chemical extinguishers. The fire was probably caused by welding work being done on the ship, which was in a slip.
Responding were two engine companies, a ladder company and a department fire boat.
No injuries were reported.
