Maori writers to be honored

The finalists for the Pikihuia Award for Maori Writers have been announced: The 25 stories will be published in two short-story collections later this year, according to the Maori Literature Trust and Huia Publishers in New Zealand.The awards, launched in 1995 as "E Tuhi! Get Writing," include both novel excerpts and short-story categories. The awards ceremony will be the finale of the Festival of Maori Writers 2007 in Wellington, New Zealand, Sept. 10-15.
