After its first week in operation, Mayor Mufi Hannemann has declared the city's "Drive Akamai" traffic information program a rousing success.

"We have received more than 5,000 hits on our new Web site, and close to 1,000 calls to our Drive Akamai hot line," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann. "It's good to know that people are seeking out the very useful information that we are providing so that they can better plan their daily commutes."

The $70,000 Web site and public outreach effort were unveiled by Hannemann and members of his cabinet at a press conference on July 5.

"I'm happy to see that people are taking advantage of the tools we are providing while our administration goes about the work of improving our public infrastructure," said Hannemann. "Residents can look forward to further enhancements on both the Web site (www.driveakamai.org) and the hot line (768-3777)."
