List of Kauai police chief candidates trimmed to 3

Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E — The Kaua'i Police Commission announced Friday that it had narrowed down its list of applicants for the position of Police Chief from a field of 66 applicants. The finalist listing is the result of a local and national executive search conducted by CPS Human Resource Services, a consultant hired by the county to assist with the search.

The three finalists include Gerald Mines, a former police commissioner from Mt. Vernon, New York; Darryl Perry, a former Honolulu Police Department major from Mililani; and a third candidate whose name cannot be released at this time due to his present assignment to sensitive position within the federal government.

The finalists are scheduled to visit Kaua'i in August for the next phase of the assessment process. Once that process is complete, the Kauai Police Commission will interview the three applicants and make its final selection.
