Shred those old, confidential documents today at the state Capitol (dropoff area on Beretania Street) and the parking lot of Home Depot in Kapolei.

Hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Among the things you might want to dispose of: old tax returns, insurance forms and bank statements; pre-approved credit offers; expired charge cards; and charge receipts.

There's a dropoff limit of four boxes or bags per person. The free event is sponsored by AARP Hawaii and Shred-it.
