After just 2 1/2 months in service on Oceanic Cable channel 81, KLIFE already has a nickname — the classic channel.

Many hallyu fans who have just gotten into Korean dramas are asking for older Korean drama titles. Although many titles are available on DVD sets, not all fans are willing to spend $60 to $130 on a whole set. KLIFE is a great alternative to feed your appetite for Korean dramas.

The first video-on-demand channel with Korean program content, KLIFE airs videos, dramas, movies and specials. Many programs are free, such as music videos and specials. Others, such as dramas and movies, are charged as you watch.

KLIFE has three Korean dramas for your viewing: "Sweet 18," "Oh! Pil-seung!" and "Wedding." Two episodes are added per week. Check often as more dramas will be added continuously. Here's what's going on in the three shows.

'SWEET 18' (2004)

Starring: Lee Dong-gun, Han Ji-hae, Lee Da-hae, Lee Jun.

Mischievous high school girl Yoon Jung-sook is bent on doing things her own way but is a descendant of one of the most aristocratic families of Korea, the Yoons of Papyeong. And the patriarchs of her family have arranged her marriage to Kwon Hyuk-joon. So at age 18, she weds the son of the equally blue-blooded Kwons of Andong.

'OH! PIL-SEUNG, BONG SOON-YOUNG' (2004)

Starring: Ahn Jae-wook, Chae Rim, Ryu Jin, Park Sun-young.

Oh Pil-seung is not well educated and doesn't have much to his name. He is willing to give up on his life for the love he blindly pursues and thinks seniority is more important than social status. However, he is thrown into the management room of a corporation and surrounded by people who know the rules of "survival of the fittest" very well. And surprise — Oh Pil-seung ends up on top.

'WEDDING' (2005)

Starring: Ryu Shi-won, Jang Na-ra, Lee Hyun-woo, Myung Se-bin.

A daughter of a rich family, Se-na (played by Jang Na-ra) works as a house manager at a theater. One day she is introduced to Seung-woo (Ryu Shi-won), a diplomat. Soon, the two tie the knot because they "fit," but as time goes by, they clash over everything. As marital discord grows, Seung-woo falls in love with his childhood sweetheart. But watching Seung-woo grow aloof from her, Se-na, on the contrary, starts feeling attracted to him and decides to capture his heart for good.

MOVIE UPDATE

Korean Cinema has taken center stage at the Hawaii International Film Festival for the past several years. If you've missed them, you can catch the movies on KLIFE, which has three titles: "Hanbando," "A Moment to Remember" and "You Are My Sunshine." More films will be added.

'HANBANDO' (2006)

Starring: Cha In-pyo, Ahn Sung-ki, Cho Jae-hyun, Moon Sung-keun.

In the not-too-distant future, the governments of North and South Korea are on the verge of re-opening the Gyeongui railway, which connects the two countries, as a further step toward reunification. Japan refuses to accept the decision, claiming rights to the railway lines based on century-old official documents imprinted with the royal seal of King Gojong of Joseon. It's a race against time and hidden agendas.

'A MOMENT TO REMEMBER' (2004)

Starring: Jung Woo-sung, Sohn Ye-jin.

Su-jin has always been a little forgetful. After meeting carpenter Chul-soo, a romance slowly develops between the two. Su-jin is recovering from a failed romance with a married man. Chul-soo was abandoned as a child, and has lived his life alienated. Su-jin asks Chul-soo to get married, but he resists. When Su-jin is diagnosed with a rare form of early-onset dementia, Chul-soo learns what it really means to love.

'YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE' (2005)

Starring: Hwang Jung-min, Jeon Do-youn.

Suk-jung (Hwang Jung-min), a simple country fellow, falls for the beautiful Eun-ha, played by 2007 Cannes Film Festival best-actress winner Jeon Do-youn, when he sees her working at a local coffee shop. Even when Suk-jung realizes Eun-ha provides more than coffee to her male customers, his feelings don't change. Ignoring the stares of his neighbors, Suk-jung asks Eun-ha to marry him. Then Eun-ha's dark past comes back to haunt them.
