Firefighters declare west Kauai brushfire under control

Advertiser Staff

A brushfire on Kaua'i's west side burned about 30 acres of Robinson family property before being declared under control at 4:45 p.m. today.

Kaua'i County spokeswoman Mary Daubert said the fire companies from Kalaheo, Koloa and Waimea along with a Rescue 3 unit and helicopter responded to the 3:17 p.m. alarm.

They were assisted by Robinson employees using water tenders to refill fire trucks, Daubert said.

The firefight occurred about three miles mauka of the Makaweli Post Office.

There were no injuries and the fire did not threaten structures.
