Mobi PCS joins mobile telephone alliance on fair access

Advertiser Staff

Mobi PCS, a Hawai'i-based mobile telephone company that offers unlimited local and long distance calling plans, has joined a national alliance calling for Congress and the Federal Communications Commission to address anti-competitive and discriminatory roaming practices within the industry.

The Alliance for Fair Roaming Access wants the FCC to clarify that wireless carriers are obligated to enter into automatic roaming agreements that are reasonable and nondiscriminatory.

It said anti-competitive practices within the industry threaten the quality, coverage and price structure for small, rural and regional carriers.
