6 Oahu libraries hosting Harry Potter events this week

In celebration of the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the seventh and final book of the series by J.K. Rowling, on July 21, six O'ahu public libraries are scheduled to host theme events.

Admission is free.

Here's a list of events:

i 6:30-7:15 p.m. July 18, Mililani Public Library: "Harry Potter Book 7 Celebration" and "The Magic of Reading with Uncle Wayne and Magic Mark" are both suitable for ages 5 and older. Call 627–7470.

i 10:30-11:15 a.m., July 21, Kalihi-Palama Public LIbrary: "Harry Potter and the End ... A Celebration of Reading for Children of All Ages" and "The Magic Reading with Magic Mark" will weave magic, comedy and puppetry for a multifaceted show suitable for all ages. "Mystery Movies," based on the novels, will be shown in the auditorium. Children can also make crafts in the main reading room. Call 832–3466.

i 11 a.m.-noon, July 21, Hawai'i State Library: "Harry Potter Book 7 Celebration" takes place in the Edna Allyn Children's Room. Children are encouraged to come in costume. Librarians will read aloud selections from the latest book. Call 586–3510.

i 2-5 p.m. July 21, Hawai'i Kai Public Library: There will be a Wizard's Chess Game and other Harry Potter-themed activities and crafts. Call 397–5833.

i 10 a.m-5 p.m., July 21, Manoa Public Library: The library will host a variety of Harry Potter-themed activities throughout the day, suitable for all ages. Call 988–0459.

i Today through July 20, Waialua Public Library: Enter the "Harry Potter Trivia Contest" and be eligible to win one of five new copies of the latest book. Deadline is July 20. Call 637–8286.

Call the hosting library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed.
