Two women will be tried for meth trafficking

Advertiser Staff

Two women accused of accepting a special-delivery package from Las Vegas containing 455 grams of crystal methamphetamine will be arraigned July 30 at Circuit Court.

A District Court judge today ruled there was probable cause for the warrantless arrests of Denzie H. Thomas, 44, and Charlene Leiola Yim, 60, following a preliminary hearing and sent the case to Circuit Court for trial. The women are each being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.

According to a court document, police intercepted a package weighing four pounds last Tuesday at the Federal Express station and set up a control delivery. Police raided a residence at Hui Alala Street in 'Ahuimanu when the package, rigged with a tracking device, signaled police that it was opened.

Thomas and Yim are charged with first-degree meth trafficking.
