Texas cornerback gets scholarship from Hawaii

Jeremiah Alexander, an All-State cornerback from Texas, has accepted a football scholarship from the University of Hawai'i.

Alexander, who is 5-feet-10 and 185 pounds, will be a senior this year at Jake Yates High School in Houston. He will join the Warriors in August 2008.

He has a 3.5 grade-point average and already has earned an NCAA-qualifying SAT score.

"It's a great school for me," Alexander said.

As a junior last year, Alexander made nine interceptions, including five in three playoff games.

"He hits hard and he's a hard worker," Jack Yates High coach Jeff Ceasar said. "He'll out-work his opponent day in and day out."
