Crash near Honolulu airport closes H-1 westbound

Advertiser Staff

A 28-year-old woman suffered critical injuries tonight in a crash on the H-1 Freeway near the airport.

Police have closed the westbound lanes of the H-1 airport viaduct. Traffic is being rerouted to Kamehameha Highway. Traffic leaving the airport is being allowed to enter the freeway's westbound lanes.

The woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, said Bryan Cheplic, Honolulu emergency services spokesman.

A male in the vehicle also was taken to Queen's. His condition was not immediately known.

The accident happened about 8 p.m. in the H-1 westbound lanes near the airport exit.
