Honolulu TV station adds morning news show Sept.17

BY WAYNE HARADA
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

KGMB9 will join the morning news war with a Sept. 17 launch of "Sunrise on KGMB9," a news program with co-anchors Steve Uyehara and Grace Lee.

Jeff Booth, now weekend weather anchor, will move to the morning slot, and Howard Dicus, formerly of Pacific Business News and a veteran contributor of business matters on rival KHON-2's morning newscast, will join the "Sunrise" team.

"Sunrise" will finally give KGMB a morning news show; for years, the CBS affiliate was the lone network station without one.

Uyehara has been weekend sports anchor and a sports reporter, who joined KGMB in 2002 and has had experience as an assistant producer, producer and news reporter.

Lee, who earlier had ties with KGMB, rejined the station in June after three years at KCRA in Sacramento.

Booth has been weekend weather person for 2 1/2 years and often has done weeknight stints, too.
