Traci Toguchi sidelined in "You Somebody"; play extended to Aug. 5

Advertiser Staff

Traci Toguchi, the former Miss Hawai'i who was cast as Miss Hawai'i #2 in Diamond Head Theatre's hit musical, "You Somebody," has been sidelined following a fall the morning after she opened in the Lee Cataluna-Keola Beamer musical last Friday.

"I hope to return soon, even with my arm in a blue industrial sling," she said. She took a spill at home, resulting in "a split shoulder with a cracked bone."

The Miss Hawai'i sisterhood has pitched in. Cathy Foy — who had been scheduled to appear in place of Miss Hawaii #1, Cheryl Toma Sanders, did a few performances. Candes Gentry, who played the role in the original production five years ago, was also summoned.

There are three Miss Hawai'is in the production (Denby Dung is #3), who appear as fairy godmothers of sorts, to console the confused Lisa Lusa daughter character enacted by Pomai Lopez.

"I miss the cast and crew, and miss doing the show," said Toguchi, who may be in a sling for up to six weeks.

Meanwhile, "You Somebody" has added four shows: 8 p.m. Aug. 3; 3 and 8 p.m. Aug. 4; and 4 p.m. Aug. 5.
