New Honolulu film festival in Waikiki Saturday

A new Honolulu International Film Festival, not to be confused with the Hawaii International Film Festival, will screen day-long shorts and features Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel. The range of works include animated shorts, music video, and 90-minute-plus original stories.A filmmaker panel, from 10 to 11 a.m., kicks off the public program.
Ten short films will be shown with the first at 11 a.m. and last "Sharks: Stewards of the Reefs," the Best of Hawaii winner at 3 p.m.
Feature length movies will be screened, the first at 3:45 p.m. and the last "Little Chenier," the grand prize winner at 8:45 p.m.
An all-day pass is $10, available at the door.
An awards brunch is slated for Sunday morning.
