New Honolulu film festival in Waikiki Saturday

Advertiser Staff

A new Honolulu International Film Festival, not to be confused with the Hawaii International Film Festival, will screen day-long shorts and features Saturday at the Sheraton Waikiki hotel. The range of works include animated shorts, music video, and 90-minute-plus original stories.

A filmmaker panel, from 10 to 11 a.m., kicks off the public program.

Ten short films will be shown with the first at 11 a.m. and last — "Sharks: Stewards of the Reefs," the Best of Hawaii winner — at 3 p.m.

Feature length movies will be screened, the first at 3:45 p.m. and the last — "Little Chenier," the grand prize winner — at 8:45 p.m.

An all-day pass is $10, available at the door.

An awards brunch is slated for Sunday morning.
