Canadians dominate synchronized swimming at Waipio

WAIPI'O—Canadians dominated the junior portion of the U.S. Open Synchronized Swimming Championships at Central O'ahu Regional Park yesterday.

Chloe Isaac and Jennifer Knobbs of Canada won the gold and bronze medals in the solo competition. In the duet, Camille Bowness and Marie-Lou Morin won the gold and Laurie Ann Bedard and Audrey Houle took the bronze. Canada also won the team event, followed by China and the U.S. junior national team.

China's Chen Xiaojun won the silver in the solo and Bao Xiaoxiao and Feng Ziwet won the silver in the duet.

In the trio finals, which only had American teams competing, the Walnut Creek Aquanuts and Riverside Aquettes, tied for first. Both teams are based out of California. The Seattle Synchro Swim Team took the bronze.

The senior portion of the event began today with finals scheduled for Saturday.
