Fire on Maui quickly controlled

Maui firefighters responded to a fire call at 6:49 p.m. last night at a field owned by Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company (HC&S). According to Maui officials, the fire was not a scheduled field burn. The field is located alongside the Kuihelani Highway in Kahului.Two county fire engines and a water tanker were initially dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, HC&S field personnel attended to the fire.
County fire crews remained on scene to monitor the incident. No homes were threatened and no injuries reported.
