Surf could hit 8 feet on south shores late today

Advertiser Staff

The tropical depression that's expected to arrive today could bring waves as high as 8 feet to south shores later today, the National Weather Service said.

Early, south shores should see surf 1 to 3 feet while east shores will see surf 4 to 6 feet, west shores will see surf 3 to 5 feet and north shores surf 2 to 4 feet.

A moderate west to west/northwest swell is expected to arrive today and continue through Sunday afternoon. Small to moderate east swells will begin arriving today, then rise into Saturday. East swells may require a high surf advisory late today and Saturday, the National Weather Service said.
