UH Communications School gets $35,000 endowment

With a $35,000 donation, McNeil Wilson Communications Inc. has established an endowed scholarship fund on behalf of the School of Communications at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.David McNeil and David Wilson, the firm's founding partners, presented the University of Hawai'i Foundation with the donation to provide scholarships benefiting students majoring in communications with an emphasis in public relations, a news release from the firm said. The presentation comes as McNeil Wilson Communications is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The first scholarship will be awarded for the upcoming academic year of 2007-2008.
"My partner and I and our firm as a whole are extremely grateful to the University of Hawai'i for its focus on preparing students who enter our profession. We've always enjoyed a strong relationship with Hawaii's flagship campus and this endowment is a measure of our gratitude," said David Wilson, the firm's president, in the news release.
Gerald Kato, chair of the School of Communications, said, "McNeil Wilson Communications has long supported the public relations program and given students internship opportunities that launched them on successful careers. The School of Communications is honored to receive this endowed scholarship because it reflects the continuing support of the professional community for what we do and it serves as a bridge between the campus and community."
