Aqua Hotels sponsors polo match at Mokuleia field

Aqua Hotels & Resorts is sponsoring the final Sunday of Sunday polo with the "Pacific Gold Cup" on July 29 at Hawai'i Polo Club, on the beach at 68-539 Farrington Highway in Mokuleia, 3.5 miles past Waialua High School.Visiting top professional polo players from around the world will be added to the local roster to support and strengthen the teams for the competition, part of the United States Polo Association-sanctioned inter-island series.
The four competing teams are:
Team Equus (O'ahu) with Juan Lagos from Argentina
El Ensueno (Maui) with Ulysses Escapite from Mexico
Hawaii Polo (O'ahu) with J.D. Hall from Texas and Rob Yackley from Chicago
Kahuku Ranch (Big Island) with Kimo 'The Poi Pounder' Huddleston from the Big Island and Herman Louis 'The Hawaiian Hurricane' Decoite from Maui
"This is the largest collection of visiting high goal professional polo players seen in Hawai'i at any one time in well over a decade and should make for very exciting matches," said Mike Dailey, president of the Hawaii Polo Club.
The "Pacific Gold Cup" – Hawaii's most prestigious and sough after trophy will be awarded at the conclusion of the tournament. The event is open to the public and the schedule includes:
i 11 a.m. Gates open for picnicking, tailgating and to see the horses as they are prepared for the games. The Polo Bar and Grill will also be open, offering food and refreshments throughout the day.
i 2:15 p.m. First polo match gets underway.
Half-time Precision skydiving exhibition by Sky Dive Hawaii.
i 5 p.m. Matches conclude, followed by live music until sunset.
General admission is $8 per person. Students and Military with ID receive a 50 percent discount. Children under 16 years are free. There is lots of free parking available.
