ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
A place for making new friends

Advertiser Staff

Moms, do you wish you could connect with other women who understand you and all the things you go through? Mothers chatting in the "Mom to Mom" discussion board on www.HawaiiMoms.com are organizing play groups, meeting to exercise, even talking about starting book clubs. Gr8tfulmom wrote in the General Parenting forum about how she wishes she felt more motivated to exercise. The poster who calls herself Mommy Sacha responded with tips of her own, then added: "Depending on where you live, perhaps we can get together to go walking with the kids or something. ... I'm down near Kahala and go to Kapiolani Park with the kids sometimes. ... If anyone wants to get together to do this, let me know!"

VINTAGE SURF AUCTION

OLDIES CAN BE GOODIES

Dust off those old surfboards! You can get them appraised at the QuikSilverEdition fourth biennial Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Blaisdell. Top appraisers in the field will assess the value of vintage boards and other surf collectibles in a free "Antiques Road Show"-style appraisal. Who knows? Maybe that old beater board is worth something! Visit www.hawaiiansurfauction.com.

FINAL WORD

"People expect us to keep 'Monk' fresh, but I think freshness is highly overrated. I believe in fermentation, and we're fermenting like a cheap wine."
