VFW donates phone cards

Advertiser Staff

The Hawaii Veterans of Foreign Wars this week donated 4,000 international phone cards to Schofield Stryker brigade troops who will be deployed to Iraq later this year.

The Hawaii Veterans of Foreign Wars presented the phone cards to officials representing the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team at the Wahiawa-Whitmore Village Neighborhood Board's meeting Monday night. The cards are each worth about 20 minutes of phone time from Iraq to the United States, an Army official said.

About 4,000 men and women from the O'ahu-based Stryker brigade are preparing for the unit's first combat tour in Iraq this year.
