Head for libraries to celebrate Book 7 with fellow Potter fans

Libraries around the island are celebrating the release of the seventh and final book about the boy wizard, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," with free events today:

  • Kalihi-Palama Public Library: 9 to 10:30 a.m., crafts; 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., "The Magic of Reading with Magic Mark," featuring illusionist Mark Kroll, followed by movies; 1 to 4 p.m., make-and-take crafts for kids. 832-3466.

  • Hawai'i State Library's Edna Allyn Children's Room: 11 a.m., "Harry Potter Book 7 Celebration." Kids 5 and older are invited to dress in Hogwarts characters and take part in games and crafts. 586-3510.

  • Hawai'i Kai Public Library: 2 to 5 p.m., Wizard's Chess Game of giant pieces on a giant game board, and other activities and crafts. 397-5833.

  • Manoa Public Library: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Potter-themed activities for youngsters of all ages. 988-0459.
