The Oakland Athletics activated designated hitter Mike Piazza from the 15-day disabled list and optioned right-handed pitcher Shane Komine to Triple-A Sacramento.
Komine, a Kalani High alum from Honolulu, was 0-0 with a 4.70 ERA in two relief appearances with the A's.
Komine and A's catcher Kurt Suzuki of Maui became the first all-Hawai'i battery in Major League history Tuesday night when Komine entered a game against Texas.
It was Komine's second stint with the A's this season. He was called up June 18 then sent back to Sacramento on June 22 without making an appearance. He was recalled on July 3.
Piazza was placed on the disabled list with a sprained right shoulder.
