Pyewacket was the first to finish today in the 44th biennial Transpacific Yacht Race from California to Hawai'i.

Roy E. Disney's 94-foot boat, sailing in the fastest boats division, crossed the finish off Diamond Head at 11:11 a.m., seven days after the start.

Kokopelli 2, a Santa Cruz 52 from Tiburon, Calif., that left three days before Pyewacket, was second to finish at 12:53 p.m.

The elapsed-time record of 6 days, 16 hours, 4 minutes, 11 seconds was set by Morning Glory two years ago. That time passed at 2 a.m. today.

Reinrag2, first in Division 4, was leader for first place overall on corrected handicap time as of yesterday's report. It was expected to finish late tonight.

The 77-year-old Disney, a nephew of Walt Disney and one of The Walt Disney Co.'s major shareholders, arrived in Honolulu earlier this week. Disney's son, Roy Pat Disney, is the co-skipper of the Pyewacket along with longtime boat manager Gregg Hedrick.

The 2,225-nautical mile contest held every two years begins off Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, Calif., and ends in Honolulu about a week later. The finish line is at Diamond Head for 23 boats in the faster divisions launched on July 16 and 51 smaller boats launched earlier because they are in slower classes.
