HECO using helicopters for maintenance work on Oahu

Advertiser Staff

Over the next two weeks Hawaiian Electric Company will be using a helicopter to perform work and inspections of its facilities not accessible by ground vehicles.

Starting today and through Friday, the helicopter will be flying from the Board of Water supply tank at the mauka end of Waimano Home Road to the valley west of Waimano Home Road. Flights will be start at 8:30 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. each day, so residents may hear or see the helicopter in spots they usually don't.

Next week, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, the helicopter will be at Halawa Valley to locations on the ridge overlooking Kane'ohe and the Likelike Highway.

On July 31, it will be used from the BWS tank on Wiliwili Ridge in East Honolulu to structure locations that are inaccessible by truck on the ridge.
