Hawaii input sought on state transportation program

Starting today, the State Department of Transportation will hold public information meetings statewide to discuss and solicit comments on the Draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program for fiscal years 2000 to 2011 (+2).

Copies of the Draft STIP Fiscal Years 2008 to 2011 (+2) are available by calling 587-6355 or at hawaii.gov/dot/stp/stip.

On Maui, the first meeting is at 6 tonight in the Lahaina Civic Center Social Hall. The second meeting on Maui is Tuesday at 6:30 at Kamalii Elementary School in the cafeteria in Kihei. The third meeting is Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Eddie Tam Memorial Center in the gym in Makawao, and the fourth meeting is next Thursday at 6 p.m. at the State DOT Highways Division in the Maui District Office conference room in Kahului.

  • Kaua'i: July 30, 6 p.m., DOT Highways Division Kaua'i District Office Conference Room, Lihu'e.

  • Moloka'i: Aug. 1, 4 p.m., Kulani O'iwi, 600 Maunaloa Highway, Kaunakakai.

  • Big Island: Aug. 6, 6 p.m., Kealakehe High School cafeteria, Kailua, Kona; Aug. 7, 6 p.m., Waimea Civic Center, State Office Conference Room, Kamuela; Aug. 8, 6 p.m., Kea'au Community Center, Kea'au; Aug. 9, 6 p.m., Hilo State Office Building, conference room A, B and C, Hilo.
