Chef hall-of-fame inductees chosen

Seven Island chefs will be inducted into the Hawaii Restaurant Association's first Hall of Fame celebration, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Hawaii Prince hotel.

The inaugural "Chefs of Aloha" honorees are:

i Sam Choy, of Sam Choy's Diamond Head Restaurant, Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch and Crab, and Sam Choy's Guam.

i Fred DeAngelo, of Ola at the Turtle Bay resort.

i Peter Merriman, of Merriman's and Hula Grill Maui.

i Nawai Kekoolani, of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

i Russell Siu, of 3660 on the Rise and Kaka'ako Kitchen.

i Khamton Tanchaleun, of the Hawaii Prince Hot.

i Alan Wong, of Alan Wong's, The Pineapple Room, Hualalai Grill and Alan Wong's Japan.

The event,from 6:30 p.m., will feature beverage stations and food stations hosted by the seven chefs, with a program from 8 p.m.

Tables of 10 are available for $3,000 and $1,500, with individual tickets available at $200. Proceeds benefit culinary students through HRA's scholarship program.
