Two traffic signals — one at the intersection of South Beretania and Kaialiu streets in Mo'ili'ili and another at North School and Leilani streets in Kalihi — will begin operating today.

The $298,000 project at South Beretania and Kaialiu near Star Market included installing the traffic signals and improving curb ramps.

Traffic signals at North School and Leilani were installed through a $371,000 project to improve the safety of pedestrians, particularly schoolchildren.

Both intersections employ "mass arms," which allow the traffic signals to hang over the intersection for better visibility.
