Local firm starts UH communications scholarship fund
Advertiser StaffIn recognition of its 25th anniversary, McNeil Wilson Communications Inc. has established an endowed scholarship fund for the School of Communications at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa.
The firm's founding partners David McNeil and David Wilson presented the University of Hawai'i Foundation with a gift of $35,000 to provide scholarships for students majoring in communications with an emphasis in public relations.
The first scholarship will be awarded during the next school years.
"My partner and I and our firm as a whole are extremely grateful to the University of Hawai'i for its focus on preparing students who enter our profession," Wilson said in a news release. "We've always enjoyed a strong relationship with Hawai'i's flagship campus and this endowment is a measure of our gratitude."
Both McNeil and Wilson have frequently served as guest lecturers at UH, and McNeil has also been a longtime member of the Advisory Council for the School of Travel Industry Management.
Many of the firm's staff members are UH graduates.
