New York Jets sign former UH kicker Ayat

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — The New York Jets signed former University of Hawai'i kicker Justin Ayat today.

Ayat, a 2004 UH graduate, was successful on 191 of 209 extra-point attempts and converted 59 of 89 field-goal attempts, including a career-long 56-yarder.

Ayat is a Kamehameha Schools alum.

The Jets also signed tackle Marko Cavka, selected by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2004 draft, rejoins New York after spending last year with the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europa. He was inactive for all 16 games of the 2004 season, as well as both Jets playoff games.

The Jets yesterday waived former UH safety Leonard Peters.
