Deadline for real property taxes on Kauai nears

Advertiser Staff

Kauai County officials posted a reminder yesterday to Kaua'i property owners that the first installment of real property taxes for the 2007-2008 tax year are due Aug. 20.

Payments can be made online at www.kauai.gov/payproperty.tax or by mail, in person, or at a drop box located outside the Lihu'e Civic Center – Kapule Building. Checks should be made payable to the Director of Finance.

According to county officials, real property tax bills were recently mailed to all Kaua'i property owners or their respective servicing agents.

Property owners who pay their real property taxes directly and have not received their property tax bills should immediately inquire at the Real Property Tax Collection office at the Lihu'e Civic Center, Kapule Building, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 463, or call 241-6555.

Failure to pay real property taxes by the due date will result in an assessment of a 10-percent penalty, as well as 12-percent interest per year.
