Kitchen knife used in alleged threat

Advertiser Staff

A 21-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly threatened a man and a woman with a kitchen knife, police said.

At 10:49 p.m. last night, the man walked up to the door of a small market in downtown Honolulu and started banging on the door, police said. A 48-year-old woman working at the store walked outside and told him that it was closed.

The man allegedly pulled a kitchen knife and threatened the woman, who began to scream, police said.

A 53-year-old man walking in the area heard the screams and ran over to help. The alleged attacker threatened him with the knife and the 53-year-old tried to disarm him.

A witness saw the altercation and called police. Responding patrol officers arrested the 21-year-old man on suspicion of two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.
