Recycling day benefits group

Waialua Community Association and Aloha 'Aina Earth Day are staging a recycling day to collect reusable items and turn them into cash for the community group. It will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Historic Hale'iwa Gym, 66-434 Kamehameha Highway.

Scrap metal, auto parts, bicycles, metal appliances, newspapers, cardboard, beverage containers, old tires, green waste, car batteries, cell phones, computers and more will be accepted. Goodwill Industries will be there to receive usable items and provide receipts.

Volunteers are needed. To assist or for curb-side pickup, call Jon Marr at 285-3876 or Rene Mansho at 306-1876.
