Honolulu firefighter Leroy Mulleitner helps Charlene Padayao down a ladder from the second story of her Kalihi apartment. The stairway and lanai that served as the only entrance to her apartment collapsed this morning, trapping her, a boy and two dogs.

Emergency responders are at the site of an older residential building in Kalihi where a second-floor lanai area and exterior staircase collapsed.

No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters used a ladder to evacuate two occupants — a 47-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy — from the only unit affected by the collapse.

Kalihi firefighters responded to the 8:48 a.m. report of the collapse at the building, 2021 Stanley St. near Kopke Street.
