Transpac yacht Morning Light finishes at 6:10 a.m.

The 52-foot racing boat Morning Light, which is being filmed for a documentary for theatrical release next summer, crossed the finish line at 6:10 a.m. today in the Transpacific Yacht Race.

The Roy E. Disney-owned boat and its 11-member crew is expected to cross the Diamond Head finish line, completing its 2,225-nautical mile journey that started from Long Beach July 15.

It was the second yacht to finish the race.

The average age of the crew, which includes Kahaluu's Mark Towill, is 21. Towill, 18, is a recent Punahou School graduate.

The final scene of the documentary was shot when the Morning Light crossed the finish line.

After finishing, the yacht headed straight to the Waikiki Yacht Club and is at the F Dock., where Towill's and families of other crew members were waiting.
