Big Island police need help finding two fugitives

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in finding two wanted men for nonrelated offenses.

Deric Don Kalaikauik Faris, 48, is wanted for three outstanding warrants and multiple all points bulletins (APB) involving theft and burglaries in the Ka'u district.

Faris is described to be 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, with a medium build, medium complexion, short partial gray hair, green eyes, and no facial hair. Faris was last seen in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates area, however, may have gone back to the Hilo or Puna area with family members.

Help is also sought in locating Matthew Kealoha Akina, 18, who is wanted on a $25,000 bench warrant.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either of these men can call police at 808-935-3311. Anyone who may have information in regards to Faris may contact Officer Dane Shibuya at the Ka'u Police Station at 808-939-2520.
