Hawaii stocks lower as Wall Street hits downdraft

Hawai'i stocks weren't immune to the U.S. stock market's turbulence today, with most registering declines.

Hawaiian Holdings, the parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, led local companies registering declines as its share price fell 6 percent.

Alexander & Baldwin Inc., the owner of Matson Navigation and real estate, fell about 3.7 percent, while Maui Land & Pineapple slid 2.8 percent.

Among others, Bank of Hawaii was down 2 percent and Hawaiian Electric Industries fell 1 percent.

The much-watched Dow Jones Industrial average was off 2.26 percent today.
