Woman, 61, dies after pulled from Hawaii Kai waters

Advertiser Staff

A 61-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Straub Clinic and Hospital after city paramedics transported the woman to the hospital in critical condition about 10:30 a.m. today from the boat docks adjacent to the Koko Marina shopping center in Hawai'i Kai.

The medical examiner's office identified the woman as Kathleen Aure from Oakland, Calif.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said the woman is an apparent drowning victim and that previous reports that the woman was suffering from a case of the "bends" after diving are incorrect.

No other information about the incident was immediately available.
