Officials determine no swimmers missing off Waikiki

A search for a possible missing swimmer in the lagoon behind the Hilton Hawaiian Village has been called off.Fire Department rescue workers and the department's helicopter rushed to the lagoon area at about 12:35 p.m. after receiving a report that a child-size, empty life vest had been found floating in the lagoon.
"One of the hotels in the areas rents out vests and apparently one of them was not returned properly," said Honolulu Fire Capt. Frank Johnson.
The search was called off after about 45 minutes, when searchers could find no trace of a child needing assistance and no one had reported a missing child, Johnson said.
