Hokule'a sailor will talk story

Talk story today with Billy Richards, a crew member aboard Hokule'a who participated in the recent voyage to Micronesia and Japan.

Master canoe builders Jay Dowsett, Tay Perry and Mike Mason will also discuss the history of canoes in Native Hawaiian history and why it is important to keep the tradition alive. The talk, "Traditional Hawaiian Canoe Building and Navigation," will be held at Bishop Museum.

The talk will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bowman Halau Wa'a at Bishop Museum. Admission is $5, free for museum members.
