'Summer Blues' benefit Sunday for MLK Jr. memorial

Live blues and jazz will combine with Southern home cooking in Honolulu Sunday to benefit the construction fund for the National Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The event will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. at Just One, 1372 S. King St. There will be free parking in the nearby large lot on Young Street.

There is a $3 cover charge from 2 to 5 p.m.,; the price rises to $5 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Volunteers will be cooking their favorite dishes and the blues duo Thursby & Billy will perform. Musicians are invited to stop by and jam.

The event — "Summer Blues and Southern Home Cooking" — is being organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Coalition Hawaii.
