Zen author to speak at interfaith gathering

Perle Besserman, author of "A New Zen for Women," will speak at the Interfaith Open Table at 7 a.m. on Aug. 8 at Temple Emanu-el, 2550 Pali Highway.

The Open Table will be meeting on the second Wednesday of the month throughout 2007.

Besserman, a Zen Buddhist teacher, dispels the notion that women had nothing to do with the founding and sustaining of Zen and shows how women continue to transform traditional Zen.

Respondents will be Sister Joan Chatfield and the Rev. Irene Matsumoto.
