KALIHI
Volunteers to clean up stream

Advertiser Staff

More than 40 volunteers will clean up a portion of Kalihi Stream tomorrow.

The volunteers, employees of Belt Collins Hawai'i and their family members, will clean the stream from 8:45 to 11 a.m. near 2153 N. King St. Volunteers will descend to the streambed 12 feet below on a ladder and will hoist out trash bags and other large debris with a special machine.

Volunteers will also wear hip waders to ensure their safety.

This is the fourth stream cleaning Belt Collins employees have done in recent years. In past efforts, they have brought up bowling balls, beds and the back of a pickup truck.
