Soccer: U.S. women top Japan, 4-1

Associated Press

Shannon Boxx and Kristine Lilly scored, and the U.S. women's soccer team used its size and experience to coast to a 4-1 victory over Japan at San Jose, Calif., tonight in a World Cup tuneup.

Former University of Hawai'i star, Natasha Kai, entered the game in the 70th minute for the United States.

The game was one of a few remaining exhibitions for the Americans before heading off to the Women's World Cup in China later this year. The Americans open play at the Women's World Cup on Sept. 11 against North Korea.
