Thursday night crash closed Kauai highway for 2 hours

NUKOLI'I, Kaua'i — Kuhio Highway was closed for about two hours Thursday night after a car crashed into a utility pole near the Hilton Kaua'i Beach resort.The 20-year-old man driving the car sustained minor injuries, Kauai officials said. The man was traveling north on Kuhio Highway at around 9 p.m. when he lost control of a Chevy sedan and collided into a utility pole. He was taken to Wilcox Hospital.
The highway was closed for about two hours following the crash due to the instability of the damaged utility pole.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Police said speed may have been a factor.
