Advertiser Staff

Honolulu's Michelle Wie shot a 4-over 76 today to finish near the bottom in the Evian Masters in Evian-Les-Baines, France.

Wie, who finished second in this event a year ago, had rounds of 73-71-84-76 and her 16-over-par 304 score put her in a tie for 69th place among the 72 golfers who made the weekend cut.

Wie started the day with a double-bogey on the first hole. She also bogeyed holes Nos. 6 and 7. She birdied No. 5 and made the turn at 4-over 40. She had a birdie and a bogey on her back nine.

The 17-year-old experienced some success in this tournament when she shot a 1-under 71 Friday, breaking a string of 24 consecutive rounds in which she failed to shoot under par. She suffered a setback the next day, shooting a 12-over 84.
